In this lesson am finally going to teach you how to take your portfolio or business website you've been working on, maybe in your home or school. Am going to teach you how to publish it on the World Wide Web (www).
So... Finally, we are going global. So that the entire world can see our website.
The first we need to do is to find a web host or a web server. In other for everyone to have access to our website, we can't just keep it on our phone or computer because I'd hope and sure no one else have access to your phone or computer.
We need to put our web files on something called a "Web Server"
A web server is kinda different from your regular phone or computer system.
It's basically a chunk of memory on the internet. A memory where you can put web files and everyone in the world will have access to it.
If you put your web files on your phone or computer, no one else can see it besides you, if you put your web files on web server, everyone in the world can see it. That's how website are created.
We have some cheap host in Nigeria where you can easily buy a host for your website. The likes of whogohost and domainkings
You can visit any of these websites and purchase a hosting plan as low as #500/month. I have used whogohost several times, they are good and domainkings is the recent one I used for my client because they have the cheapest web host currently.
First of all you go to one of these websites and select a plan, you can try the least plan.
Next is to get a free domain name (only .com.ng) and type the name of your desired website address (e.g topcrix.com.ng) you can't copy my web address or anyone like facebook.com or twitter.com or Naijaloaded.com.ng but you can use the name of your brand or business or even your name.
You need to pay for a year or 2 year, depending on the amount you have. You can pay with your MasterCard or pay via bank transfer or bank deposit.
Once your payment is confirmed, bang! You own a website.
