Welcome to the 5th HTML tutorial, in this tutorial, we will go into learning more tags and also something called comment.
Remember the open and close tags and the special tag </br> tag which has just the close tag.
Horizontal rule is a line that goes across a website, you might think it's not really necessary to have a line within your website. Well, it's actually more like a separator. Whenever we have a new topic or we want to make a distinct new section of our website, we can create a horizontal rule.
In our last tutorial, we've created a webpage with some headers, paragraphs and line break, maybe we want a line to separate the two headers for people to know its a new section
Let's go on and add </hr> is also a single tag just like line break </br>
Go ahead and save it. Preview, you will see that we have a new line across our website. It's now clear to our web visitors that the section below is new while the top section is old. If you check out website like jumia, you'll discover they have their goods separated with thin lines
Let's learn how to bold and italicize our texts. Though, you can easily use CSS to style your website but we're yet to get into that stage. For now, let me teach you how to style text using basic text bolding and italicizing.
Anytime you want to bold a word or a text, you surround it with the tag <strong></strong> while italicize text is <em></em>
Let's go ahead and bold service, and italicize farewell as illustrated below
Now we should have a bolded "Welcome" and an italicized "farewell"
Comments are little notes that you post on your text editor that browser totally ignores. They don't show up on your web browser. For example, as we are coding a website we'd like to write a comment to make it easy for us to locate where the header begins and ends or the body or title etc that's when we need the comment. And the formula for it is <!-- comment texts -->
In the next tutorial we're going to learn how to make links. Don't forget to subscribe for more tutorials.
